Reflection
Doing this project has really taught me not to take my life for granted, always to realize to see how fortunate I am to be here in America where I’m free and can accomplish my dreams if I take it that far. China is communist and can never reach that dream even if they wanted to and tried to. They are limited to what their government provides for them. In the last 40 years they went through genocide and had more than 50 million people killed just because their ruler wanted to remain communist and not have it change. That would be like if Obama was killing everyone who wasn’t a Democrat and didn’t follow his political views. This opened my eyes to see how terrible things are today, most people think The Holocaust was the world’s largest genocide but The Cultural Revolution was 12 times worse than that. It’s terrible to think that we still have genocides in today’s world and its even worse that sometimes we cannot do anything about it. I have all this freedom here and all these opportunities ahead of me when 40 years ago in China kids my age had to be a Red Guard and do whatever the ruler told me to do. Then even after the revolution was over I wouldn’t be able to get educated and do the things I would want to do. It’s a scary thought and I wish that the world would come to peace and not have to worry about differences in the world. If there were no differences then no one would be killing anyone and no genocides happening. I am only one person so I cant really put into perspective of how many people 75 million people really is. I know that ill look at things differently never take for granted what I have as an American.
